About Elise Morris...
I was born in Santa Barbara, California and moved to Tillamook, Oregon when I was in grade school. I grew up there on the rural
coast, before moving to Portland in 2002 and getting married in March of 2004 to my husband, Josh. I have been practicing massage
in the Portland and Beaverton area since 2005, and loving every minute of it.
Today, Josh and I live in Beaverton with our rescued American Eskimo dog, Pippin, and our kitty, Calypso. We love both our
neighborhood and the larger Portland-metro area, and try to stay in touch with the local performing, musical, and visual arts scenes.
I have always been involved in community service and otherwise helping people, so massage therapy is the perfect outlet for me. Portland
is such a holistic-minded city, affording plenty of opportunity for me to reach out to the touch-starved population. I can think of no better
occupation for me than that of helping people rediscover the connection with their mind and body, relieve their chronic aches, and cope with
the world around them. Massage therapy is becoming more and more mainstream as people realize that it is not merely a luxury treatment,
but a therapeutic one as well.
Outside of the office, I meet every month with several other massage therapists as we support and encourage one another in our chosen
profession. I love to volunteer my massage skills to various causes and fundraising events, and am always open to new opportunities to
help. To recharge and keep active I study and perform the art of tribal fusion bellydance with several respected teachers in the Portland
area. What’s more, I fear that I’m an absolute fixture at the Powell’s bookstores,
where I can indulge in my near-addiction to literature—some of my favorite authors are Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Neil Gaiman, and Melanie Rawn.
I have memberships with the Japanese Gardens and OPB,
and still love visiting the beaches and forests (and cheese factory!) of Tillamook.
I am very excited to be a part of the Portland/Beaverton wellness community, and look forward to serving the aching, stressed-out public by helping
sustain and advance the ancient and therapeutic art of massage therapy for years to come.
