BIOGRAPHIES

Mirra Nerenberg

Mirra NerenbergI currently live in SE Portland with my partner, Dan and our wonderful Border Collie, Shaina.  Growing up on the east coast, Portland is a nice change of pace for me and I am happy to be back after an extended period in Asia.  I have always been intrigued and interested by midwives and doulas, so it is a very natural progression for me to finally be able to work with women and families during their childbirth experiences as a doula.  I'm also continuing my education at Birthingway for my Bachelor's of Midwifery.

After studying and practicing Reiki, I’ve learned to combine this powerful energy into everyday life and bring it into my work as a doula.  I believe birth is a normal process that, although unpredictable, is a wonderful and momentous occasion.  I feel fortunate and blessed to be invited to support families through this amazing time.

Elise D. Morris, LMT

Elise Morris, LMTAlong with being a labor doula, I currently run a massage therapy business from my home office in Beaverton.  I have to admit that I had actually never heard of doulas until a few years ago, but now that I have taken on the role, I can’t imagine doing anything else!  It is a constant joy to be allowed to witness and assist with such a sacred and powerful experience as childbirth.

In my practice I blend my roles of both massage therapist and doula into a strong, supportive whole.  I am intimately familiar with the dynamics of touch and human interaction, which allows me to respond quickly and efficiently to situations that arise while giving you the encouragement you need.

Congratulations on your changing family, may you be happy and healthy even if nothing goes as planned!

Lorell Miller

Lorell MillerI live in NE Portland with my dog Barney and attend Birthingway College of Midwifery in pursuit of my Bachelor's of Midwifery.  Supporting women during childbirth as a doula is something that I love to do that also compliments my goal of becoming a midwife. In addition to my doula training at Birthingway, I studied with Elizabeth Davis and spent 6 months as a volunteer doula for a hospital in California. I moved back to Oregon to attend Birthingway after living in California for 16 years. Growing up in McMinnville, my return to Portland feels like coming home.

I appreciate the significance of being with a family at the birth of their child as it is a very special time in their life. I look forward to meeting you and would take on the role of being your doula with great honor.
